Anti-Racism Student Challenge: Call for Entries

Submission deadline: February 26, 2021

11/11/2020

In preparation for March 21st, the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, the Cultural Inclusion Training team at the PEIANC is organizing the 9th Annual Anti-Racism Challenge, a creative competition for Island students.

The purpose of the Challenge is to engage youth in grades 7 to 12 in a creative process to express their ideas on the topic of anti-racism. Youth are encouraged to explore the meaning of anti-racism (which is not anti-bullying or anti-violence) prior to developing their submission. The theme of this year’s Anti-Racism Challenge is The Roots of Racism.

Entries are accepted in the following categories:

  • Written text
  • Poster
  • Video

In each category, contestants/teams may submit no more than one entry. Please note that all original artwork for the poster category can be picked up at PEIANC after the contest (please arrange this when you submit your poster), and copyright for all categories remains with the artist.

Prizes

  • 1st prize: $200 for the winner, plus $200 for their school or youth group/organization
  • 2nd prize: $100
  • 3rd prize: $50

Prizes will be awarded in each of the three categories. If the number of entries is insufficient or quality of entries is not high enough, PEIANC reserves the right to cancel the competition or to limit it to certain categories.
