IRSA is hiring a full-time Information Services Coordinator. The employee in this position is primarily focused on gathering and sharing information on IRSA programs, services and activities, then processing and refining that information and disseminating it to funders, clients, the board of directors, the IRSA team and the wider community.

Position: Full-time term position
Term: Through 31 March 2023 (renewable April 1st each year, subject to program funding)
Salary: $23.14 per hour, 37.5 hours per week
Location: Charlottetown

IRSA is seeking an Information Services Coordinator to help us in our mission of building a welcoming and inclusive environment by bringing diverse communities together and empowering newcomers to build a future in PEI.

We help all newly landed immigrants and newcomers to Canada by providing vital support through short-term settlement services, and long-term inclusion and community integration programs in the province of Prince Edward Island.

How You'll Spend Your Time

As Information Services Coordinator, you will be primarily focused on gathering and sharing information on IRSA programs, services and activities, then processing and refining that information and disseminating it to funders, clients, the board of directors, the IRSA team and the wider community. This role collaborates closely with all departments to build strong relationships with key stakeholders to promote IRSA's vision, mission and core values. You will be:

  • Contributing to the development, implementation and evaluation of a communications strategy and associated activities using consistent processes, templates and tools which support the achievement of IRSA’s strategic directions and organizational values;
  • Ensuring all communications are accurate and consistently present IRSA's strategic directions and organizational values in a professional manner for all IRSA-related events, workshops, speaking engagements, etc., providing support as required;
  • Promoting IRSA and its programs by compiling, writing and editing publications, reports, posters, brochures, banners, advertising, graphics, etc., ensuring all necessary approvals are secured prior to publication;
  • Acting as primary contact for the media, collaborating with the Executive Director on all responses to media requests;
  • In collaboration with the web developer, producing and editing creative written and visual content for IRSA's website with event announcements, news articles, program information, etc.;
  • Contributing to the development, implementation and evaluation of a social media strategy using consistent processes, templates and tools to maintain a consistent and frequent social media presence promoting IRSA programs, services and events;
  • Disseminating information to clients and the public through email (including MailChimp), social media, and other appropriate means of communication;
  • Producing and distributing a regular electronic newsletter for internal audiences, and coordinating information from various internal stakeholders;
  • Supporting Community Engagement Services (CES) team in the execution and promotion of all CES events;
  • Collecting and editing all IRSA's departmental reports, as well as preparing for delivery of monthly, quarterly and annual reports to provincial and federal government funders;
  • Providing assistance and support with funding applications and related information gathering; and
  • Participating in regularly scheduled internal meetings and professional development opportunities to follow trends and understand the individual, team and organizational role in providing programming, support and services for newcomers.

The typical work schedule is Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with availability required after hours and on weekends.

What You'll Bring

  • You have a post-secondary degree or diploma in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, Marketing or related disciplines, with a minimum of 2 years experience in communications or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • You have strong networking, relationship-building and public speaking skills.
  • You are an effective communicator in the English language, with excellent written and verbal communication skills, and are confident in public speaking and presentation settings.
  • You are computer-proficient and have experience working with MS Office applications and social media, and developing and delivering creative content.
  • You have strong organizational and time-management skills with demonstrated ability to multitask and prioritize.
  • You have the ability to manage multiple and changing deadlines and responsibilities, and you have solid project management skills.
  • You are flexible and adept at responding to change.

Additionally:

  • Being well-versed in the concept of Plain Language in written communication would be considered a strong asset.
  • Knowledge of issues facing the newcomer population and experience working in a non-profit working environment would be an asset.
