Immigrant & Refugee Services Association is hiring a full-time Intercultural Skills Trainer.

Reporting to the Community Engagement Manager, this person delivers intercultural competency training in Prince Edward Island primarily to employers seeking to be part of the Atlantic Immigration Program. Through the development and facilitation of intercultural competency presentations and workshops, the role of this position is to foster awareness and understanding of culturally inclusive workplaces in PEI.

Contract: Full time until March 31, 2022, with a possible extension to March 2023
Starting date: As soon as possible
Salary: $23.14 per hour for 37.5 hours bi-weekly

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Researching, writing, and delivering presentations and workshops on intercultural competency and helping to foster effective and appropriate intercultural engagement in the workplace
  • Establishing and maintaining positive relations with employers in PEI
  • Assisting with the coordination and planning of multicultural events and initiatives
  • Maintaining an efficient records management system
  • Providing regular updates via reports

Minimum Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma or a combination of education and experience
  • Excellent interpersonal communication (oral/written) skills
  • Demonstrated experience in public speaking
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Computer proficiency, including demonstrated ability in MS Office especially Word, PowerPoint and virtual platforms
  • Effective team player, as well as demonstrated ability to work well under pressure, and with minimum supervision
  • Applicants must have a valid driver’s licence and be able to provide their own transportation for regular out-of-office work across the province
  • Applicants must be able to transport audio-visual equipment required for presentations
  • A recent criminal record check is required
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada

Other

  • Experience with and knowledge of Provincial/Federal Immigration laws and regulations, specifically the Atlantic Immigration Program would be an asset.
  • Experience in working with immigrants or minority groups would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of additional languages along with cross-cultural experience would be an asset.
